THE PREMIER YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAM

OAKLAND SOLDIERS will strive for excellence. Excellence in the classroom, excellence at home and excellence on the basketball court.

Our mission is simple. Through Basketball, a sport that does not depict one's economic, social status, or educational level as a medium:

  • To capture the attention of young students

  • To encourage academic excellence

  • To increase student-athlete exposure to colleges

About the Program

Scholar Athletes, Inc. (SAI) is the parent organization for the Soldiers, and Slam N Jam youth basketball programs. SAI is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation led by professional men and women who volunteer their time and efforts to help expose youth to the essential educational and athletic disciplines necessary to become productive student-athletes.

College Recruiting

The most important part of this program is to help the student-athletes that are not heavily recruited by colleges. Our program does everything that it is capable of to bring more awareness to student-athletes and help them secure a college scholarship. We provide support and direction to student-athletes and their families during the very complicated college recruiting process, navigating the NCAA rules & guidelines, along with facilitating the college research & outreach.

History

SAI is an organization that is very instrumental in the development of student athletes in Northern California. Established in 1990, the organization has grown at a very rapid pace and is now regarded as one of the largest and most popular athletic guidance programs in he country.

Known mostly for its Oakland Slam-N-Jam events and Soldiers All-Star Traveling Teams, SAI has become extremely popular among both inner city and suburban youth in Northern California. SAI has the honor of boasting an impressive roster of kids from the area and around the country that have participated in the program. SAI is extremely proud of the hundreds of former student-athletes that have gone on to attend college to further their education and continue their basketball careers.
